Painted or Hydro-Dipped Helmets

Custom paint, hydro-dipping, or clear-coat finishes can reduce VHB adhesion. For best results, apply the base to a clean, matte, non-oily surface. If you're unsure about your helmet's finish, reach out to us before installing.

Phase 01

Mounting the Base

01

Prepare the Surface

Clean the mounting area on your helmet use the included 3M surface cleaning cloth. Make sure the surface is completely dry, free of dust, oils, and residue. A clean surface is critical for a strong bond.

Tip: For best results, use 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and including cloth.

02

Apply the VHB Tape

Peel off the protective paper from the 3M VHB tape and carefully position the base on your helmet. Once placed, press firmly for 30 seconds with steady, even pressure. Double-check alignment before pressing, repositioning weakens the bond.

Tip: Warm the adhesive slightly with a hair dryer for improved bonding on cold surfaces.

Note: In some kits, the VHB tape is already pre-applied to the base.

03

Position the Base

Peel the remaining backing and carefully position the base on your helmet. Once placed, press firmly for 30 seconds with steady, even pressure. Double-check alignment before pressing, repositioning weakens the bond.

04

Let It Cure

Allow 24 hours for the VHB adhesive to reach full bond strength before using the mount. Avoid any stress on the base during this time.

Tip: Room temperature (20°C / 68°F or above) provides the best cure conditions.

Phase 02

Assembling Your Setup

05

Build Your Mount Assembly

Grab the included tool kit and fasten the camera adapter to your chosen mount. Line up the bolt holes, thread them in by hand first, then tighten with a light to medium pressure. A solid connection here means zero rattle in the field. After you first jump re-tighten with a light to medium pressure.

Tip: Snug is good, overtightening can break the heated nut insert. Finger-tight plus a quarter turn does it.

Note: In some cases, this assembly may arrive pre-assembled.

06

Slide In the Mount

Take your assembled mount and slide it onto the QuickRelease Base until you hear a definitive click. Give it a firm tug to confirm it's locked.

07

Lock In Your Camera

Seat your camera into adapter. You're locked, loaded, and ready to send it.

Tip: Make the shake test a habit. A quick 3-second check before every session keeps your gear safe.
